This chapter provides guidelines on the prevention of cardiac arrest, basic life support, advanced life support, resuscitation in special circumstances, post-resuscitation care, prognostication, and post-discharge care in infants, children and adolescents aged 0-18 years, but does not cover resuscitation of the neonate at birth. The recommendations have been formulated for healthcare providers who take care of children and the general public, and includes recommendations on how to implement the guideline and system factors. Stakeholders from a range of health care settings were involved in the guideline development process and the views of the community advisors representing families of paediatric cardiac arrest survivors and non-survivors were also considered.
